black innocence

Now im not a President Obama-fanatic, stalker, obsessor, or worshiper, but I am a people watcher. :0/ …in fact, im watching u….right now. :0)

But when I came across these photos in an article I read, there was something about them that made me stop and gaze. There is something very pure, innocent, and inspiring about these photos. It’s not about Malia Obama, but a notable innocence rarely captured with African American children. Mass media photos of Black children are usually footnoted with some charity story, abuse, neglect, death; no sense of agency, giving these children a space to show their capacity.

So, I think these are powerful images that speak beyond Malia and I hope to see more of other children of color.
